Paint the Wall and Promcoming – Vote Mr. and Ms. Navs!
Hey NaviGators!
It’s already April and the semester is coming to a close, but we have a couple of more events up our sleeves first.
Paint the 34th Street Wall
This Sunday April 14 we’ll be making the 34th Street Wall our own! Join us at Gate 1 of the Stephen O’Connell Center at 5:30 PM and we’ll head off to Wal-Mart to pick up our paints and brushes. Then it’s off to begin our masterpiece!
“Promcoming” Farewell Event Celebration
Make sure to come out to our “Promcoming” Event Celebration! The event is from 7:30 – 10:00 PM at “Naughty” Mel’s (Sweet Mel’s awesome two-floor party room) and then we can all head out for a night on the town.
As the name says, it’s our own mix of prom and homecoming (think 90s high school movie – you know what I’m talking about) so dress up (semi-formal is fine)! We’ll have a DJ, some cheesy decorations, and even an optional bar for those 21+!
We’re also having an intensely nostalgia-inducing slideshow, so PLEASE submit your photos if you want to see yourself in it! You can do so through our Facebook album or you can e-mail them to Caitlin. If you’re e-mailing them, be sure to write “pictures” as your subject. Deadline is Wednesday April 10!
We will also be announcing superlatives then! VOTE for your friends so we can crown Mr. and Ms. NaviGators International and all the rest! Deadline to vote is Sunday April 14!
We’re doing it big this year, so don’t miss it!
Executive Board Elections
NaviGators Executive Board elections for 2013 – 2014 are coming up soon! We’ll be convening on Monday April 1 in the UF International Center Office at 7:00 PM. Come support the future of this organization. All are welcome to come and vote, and any American students who want to get more seriously involved with NaviGators next year can run for President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer. Let us know if you have any questions!
Important Updates
Hey NaviGators!

Office Hours

Taste of Culture: Saudi Arabia and Lebanon!
Come and learn about these fascinating countries from UF students native to Saudi Arabia and Lebanon this Thursday March 28 in the Weaver Hall Basement at 7:00 PM! Free food, music, Q&A, and more!
Ginnie Springs
Due to some bad weather we were forced to postpone the Ginnie Springs trip which was supposed to be this weekend. Because this coming weekend is Easter Sunday and many of you won’t be around, we decided to instead move the event to Sunday April 7. We will be meeting at Gate 1 of the O’Connell Center at 11:00 AM.
We understand this might change things for drivers especially, so if you are available to do so now you should definitely sign up on the awesome drivers list.
Lake Wauberg Potluck
Even though we won’t be going to Ginnie Springs this weekend, we still have something else up our sleeves. This Sunday March 31 we’ll be having our annual potluck at Lake Wauberg! We’ll be meeting at Gate 1 the O’Connell Center at 12:00 PM for a nice day of swimming, tanning, canoeing and, of course, eating.
For those of you who don’t know what a potluck is, this means everyone contributes some food for the whole group to share. So bring along your favorite dish and spread the wealth, people (bonus points if it’s from your home country!) Sign up here so we don’t all bring the same thing. This is also the drivers list so sign up there too if you can!

Native American Festival This Weekend!
Hey NaviGators!
We just wanted to remind you of this weekend’s upcoming event: the 24th Annual Native American Festival at Ormond Beach! This is a really cool way to experience something which is very unique and ancient to American culture. There will be dances and performances, people dressed up in traditional clothing, 30+ booths to check out, and of course food!
We’ll be meeting up this Saturday, January 26th, at 11:30 AM at Gate 1 of the Stephen O’Connell Center, and from there we’ll all carpool over to Ormond Beach.
Entry is $6 BUT since the drive is about 2 hours from Gainesville please bring some extra bucks to help drivers out with gas. Plus food money!
Which brings me to my next point: drivers! As always, everyone is more than welcome to come out with us, but this event in particular really, really requires help with drivers. Of course drivers get gas money and FREE NaviGators t-shirts! If you can come out with us and drive, please sign up here so we can get a car count.
After the festival we’ll head over to a local waterfront restaurant for dinner and maybe even get a chance to check out the beach, so there’ll be a lot to see before we come back to Gainesville.
We hope to see you all Saturday!
